Housing Policy Statement

ReClaim believes that secure, affordable housing is the foundation of a fair and thriving society. Today, too many people are locked out of home ownership or trapped in a cycle of high rents, while whole communities are priced out by speculative development, second homes, and corporate landlords. We must change this.
Homes Built for People, Not Profit
We will take inspiration from successful affordable housing models, such as those used in the United States, where homes are built and protected at genuinely affordable rates. These homes are not commodities to be flipped for profit - they remain affordable for families and communities long into the future.
Community-Led Building Programmes
To make this possible, we will drive community-led building programmes, ensuring local people have a real say in housing developments. Public land and brownfield sites will be used for public good - not handed over to private developers.
Jobs, Skills, and Training
Housing will also be a driver of growth and opportunity. We will connect local building programmes with training schemes, creating jobs and apprenticeships in construction, electrics, plumbing, and eco-building. Every home built is also an investment in local skills, local jobs, and local futures.
Affordable, Sustainable Homes
All new homes must meet modern eco-standards: properly insulated, energy-efficient, and wherever possible fitted with solar technology to lower bills for families. Affordable housing must remain affordable to live in.

Local People First
And crucially, we will put local people first. In towns, villages, and cities across the country, housing developments will prioritise those who live and work in the area - not second-home buyers or corporate landlords.
This is not just a housing policy - it is a commitment to rebuild stability, fairness, and opportunity from the ground up. A home should never be a luxury; it should be a right.
To make this vision a reality, we must remain independent from big corporate interests. That means relying on people, not profit. If you believe in affordable homes and stronger communities, please consider becoming a member, volunteering, or donating what you can. Together, we can build a fairer housing future for all.
